We have arrived

Yesterday’s recap: After months of work toward it, the Children’s Health & Environment Partnership and its website – www.childrensenvironment.ca – launched to the public yesterday. The program rolled out wonderfully and we had 90 people including kids show up for the festivities.

Our event took place in the Great Hall at the Manitoba Children’s Museum. The highlight of the evening was certainly the interactive performance by the Winnipeg Poetry Slam Team. The kids really enjoyed themselves!

So fantastic! Since this is just the beginning, there is much more to be done. I am very excited about the announcement of our collaboration with the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and Environment (CPCHE) to deliver a capacity-building workshop to take place in February 2009. That will go a long way to ensuring information and resources get into the hands of front-line workers in sectors that work directly with children.

Back to today: Well I am totally pooped. It has been a long three months. This morning I slept in until 10:30am for the first time in ages. It was WONDERFUL! Lassie and I are hanging at home today – SANS Khatina since she got to go to work with her mama. We’re just going to CHILL. I have some errands to run a little later today including a trip to McNally Robinson. I also want to start reading Blessed Unrest. I have been trying to read it since April! Looking forward to more of this LAZY day.
